Jaclyn Barcal, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Hello! I’m from Chicago, Illinois. I grew up dancing at a Russian ballet school, and dancing as a student athlete. My interest in dance led to a fascination with the ability to manipulate the human body. It was a natural segue into physical therapy. I graduated PTA school in 2010, and worked in a SNF as well as a CCRC before moving to Texas in 2015.
Once in Texas, I challenged myself by working in different settings such as an LTACH, as well as home health and an outpatient PT clinic where I enjoyed being the department lead. I have seen a wide variety of diagnoses including acute stroke, LE amputee, spinal cord injuries, lymphedema, orthopedic patients and various post-operative patients. I particularly enjoy working with gait deviations and muscular imbalances.
During Covid, I focused on professional development and completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology. I then became pregnant with my first baby, which piqued my interest in pelvic floor PT! I am so excited to enter a new therapeutic discipline, and to have a more comprehensive skills set at my disposal to maximize patient outcomes. Watching patients heal and flourish is the most rewarding part of the job.
