Dr. Cynthia Chan, PT, DPT

She/Her

Physical Therapist

Houston

My career in physical therapy began as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). I graduated from PTA school at Navarro College in December 2018. After four years of working as a PTA with the geriatric population, I went on to complete my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2022.

In 2018, I underwent ovarian surgery, which led to pain and pelvic floor dysfunction. During my time in PT school, I was introduced to pelvic floor physical therapy by classmates who were pelvic floor PTAs. This inspired me to explore pelvic floor therapy further, and I had the opportunity to complete my final clinical rotation with Origin PT.

I became a strong advocate for pelvic floor PT after seeing how uninformed the community was about pelvic floor therapy and its benefits, as well as witnessing the positive outcomes not only for my patients but also for myself. I aim to provide the necessary education and care to help my patients build hope, confidence, and control over their pelvic health. My goal is to create a safe space where patients feel seen, heard, and supported throughout their healing journey.

In my free time, I love spending time with my sweet husband, who is also a PT. We enjoy cracking random jokes using PT jargon that always confuses our siblings. I also enjoy reading, going on outdoor picnics, decorating our house for the holidays, working on arts and crafts projects, and facetiming my nieces and nephew in Dallas!
